2020 fue un año para recordar para todos nosotros, independientemente del género, la religión, el estado migratorio o el origen nacional. Fuimos testigos de la muerte de millones de personas cuando la humanidad se enfrentó al ataque del COVID-19 y las variantes que lo acompañan. Durante esta pandemia mundial, también fuimos testigos de una oleada de algunas de las retóricas y acciones más reaccionarias, y fuimos sometidos a una de las administraciones más racistas, misóginas, crueles y criminales que este país ha tenido la desgracia de vivir. Presenciamos el atentado terrorista al capitolio nacional dirigido por su propia administración con impunidad.
2020 se convirtió en un gran desafío para los trabajadores, organizados o no. Como resultado del virus, miles de empresas cerraron, algunas para siempre. Millones de trabajadores fueron despedidos o perdieron sus trabajos. Muchas vidas fueron arrojadas a un mundo de desempleo, pobreza, aumento de la deuda de alquiler y falta de vivienda. Los trabajadores esenciales se convirtieron en el sonido de la década, mientras que el significado real detrás de esta retórica fue “prescindible y excluido”.
Como trabajadores, hemos entrado en 2021 con los ojos bien abiertos después de haber presenciado el asesinato de George Floyd, el enjaulamiento de niños en nuestra frontera sur y la manifestación racista más masiva desde la guerra civil. Las comunidades asiáticas junto con nativos, negros, latinos e inmigrantes han sufrido ataques brutales y cobardes.
2020 ha puesto de manifiesto que la naturaleza del sistema actual debe cambiar. La atención médica, la reforma migratoria inclusiva, la reforma de la seguridad pública, las personas sin hogar, la vivienda y el empleo deben ser una prioridad. Sin embargo, para que podamos lograr avances considerables, debemos garantizar el derecho a organizarse.
Nuestras demandas:
- ¡Reforma migratoria para todos ahora! (Abolir ICE, poner fin a las detenciones migratorias, liberar a los niños y personas detenidas, regularizar a todos los trabajadores y sus familias)
- ¡Apoye la Ley de Protección del Derecho de Sindicación (PRO Act)!
- ¡Oponerse a la reciente supuesta victoria de Amazon sobre los trabajadores y exigir elecciones verdaderamente honestas!
- Cancelar la deuda de alquiler y los desalojos: ¡la vivienda debe ser un derecho para todos!
- Reforma policial y redistribución de los recursos locales que aseguren la salud y seguridad de las personas con iniciativas lideradas por la comunidad y no por las instituciones GUBERNAMENTALES.
- Necesitamos un sistema de salud pública bien financiado para enfrentar virus como COVID-19.
- ¡Detengan los ataques racistas y acaben con la supremacía blanca!

2020 was a year to remember for all of us, regardless of gender, religion, immigration status, or national origin. We witnessed millions of people pass away as humanity faced the onslaught of COVID-19 and its accompanying variants. During this world pandemic, we also witnessed a tidal wave of some of the most reactionary rhetoric and actions, and were subjected to one of the most racist, misogynist, cruel and criminal administrations that this country has had the misfortune of experiencing. The struggle for democracy carried the day, witnessing the terrorist attack on the national capitol directed by its own administration with impunity.
2020 became a major challenge for workers, organized or not. As a result of the virus thousands of businesses closed, some forever. Millions of workers were furloughed or lost their jobs. Many lives were thrown into a world of unemployment, poverty, compounding rental debt, and homelessness. Essential workers became the sound bite of the decade, while the real meaning behind this rhetoric was “expendable & excluded.”
As workers, we have entered 2021 with eyes wide open after having witnessed the murder of George Floyd, the caging of children in our southern border and the most massive racist outpouring since the civil war. Asian communities along with Native, Black, Latinx, and Immigrants have suffered brutal and cowardly attacks.
2020 has exposed that the nature of the present system needs to change. Health Care, Inclusive Immigration Reform, Public Safety Reform, Homelessness, Housing and Jobs must be a priority. Yet, for us to make considerable gains we must ensure the right to organize!
Our demands:
- Immigration Reform for All Now! (Abolish ICE, End Immigration Detentions, Release the Detained Children, Regularize all workers and their families)
- Support the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act!
- Oppose Amazon’s recent so-called victory over the workers and demand real honest elections!
- Cancel Rental Debt and Evictions – Housing must be a right for everyone!
- Police Reform and redistribution of local resources that will insure people’s health and safety led by the community and not GOVERNMENT institutions.
- We need a well-funded Public Health system to confront viruses like COVID-19.
- Stop Racist attacks and End White Supremacy!
